NEW EXTENSION

Hi all,
I have taken over the IT for a company which is running FreePBX 2.5.2.2
My problem is that I am trying to add a new extension to the system, but everytime I try to dial that extension internaly or externally, it goes straight to voicemail.
If I look on the user panel which shows me all the extensions in the organization, I also do not see the new one I created there.
I have checked the new one against existing ones and all the information seems fine, but clearly I am missing something else?
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Have you applied changes?
After you submit the new extension configuration, you should see a red/orange bar at the top of the FreePBX window. It says Apply Configuration Changes. Click on it.
