Device configuration templates

Description (Last modified by gregmac)

When adding a device/extension in AMP, configuration files for
various devices could be automatically written out to a user-
definable directory (ie: /tftpboot).

A directory of config templates would exist for various models of
phones. The templates could contain tokens that would be replaced
by AMP before writing out the final config file (username, secret, *
IP, etc).

An administrator should be able to upload a new or modified device
templates into system (and hopefully contribute them back to this
project).

I'm actually working on something like this (in module form) and will submit when I think it's ready for beta. Currently it's only for Polycom phones though but is working.

Right now I'm using templates to generate per phone configuration files and FTP them somewhere (even locally). I'm going to add a template editor before releasing it. I'd also like to figure a way to reboot the phone if desired when there is a configuration change.

My module adds a menu item and then you add your types of phones then you add the phone. After adding the phone you can select from a list of available extensions and assign them to various buttons. I'd also like to make it so you can assign non-asterisk registrations through this interface but that will come later.

I have a Grandstream GXP-2000 phone but haven't begun to work on anything for it. I also understand the Aastra phones support tftp or ftp as well. Hopefully when I'm done you'll be able to add whatever kind of phone and template you desire but for now it's just Polycom.

  • description changed.

#459 asks for a MAC address field to be added to devices, I think that is a requirment for this ticket.

closing as wontfix - this will be integrated into proper provisioning and the request here is very tactical.
