Description

This request is based on the events of Ticket #1334 - basically, after doing certain upgrades, some changes may not "take" for an extension until you go to that extension's page and click Submit. This would be a real pain if you had several hundred extensions.

In my case the problem was that *97 would no longer recognize the extension I was calling from, and an attempt to use Dictation got a recording "That feature is not available on this line." The problem had actually been corrected, but for some reason these features were still failing on individual extensions until each in turn was re-submitted. Therefore there may be a need for a "Mass Resubmit" (probably under Tools?) and perhaps down the road it would be good to allow certain features (normally controlled by the user, such as Call Waiting) to be turned on or off for all extensions simultaneously, so that after reinstalls or when new systems are brought up, all extensions could start with the same features enabled/disabled by default.

Same thing with new settings also, it should not be necessary to go to each individual extension and "Enable" Dictation or VoiceMail if you generally want all your users to have access to it (this is especially true when a NEW setting is introduced).

Finally, down the road maybe you could tweak this to specifying that the actions are applied to all extensions, OR just a range (say 200-250, or maybe a comma-delimited list).

  • engine_version changed.
  • svn_rev changed.

If there are people who want this module, contact me and let me know. I have partially written a mass update module that handles the examples as described here. I have a client willing to flip a generous portion of the bill but we need more contributors.

  • priority changed from major to minor.
  • milestone set to 4.0.

It sounds like the original issue may have been resolved by improved update methodologies but the underlying feature request for a Mass Submital is still awaiting interested parties.

It sounds like a valuable project though. Changing Priority to Minor and Version to 4.0

Bulk Extensions module, now in standard repository, does this. Closing as fixed.
