Module Admin - Download and NOT Install

Description

In prior releases, you could download but NOT install modules. This was good in preloading machines w/ modules that weren't neccessarily gonna be used, but *might* sometime in the future. Specifically w/ offline sites. Can we get this ability back?

Currently: Tools > Module Admin > Module > Action 'No Action' or 'Download and Install'

changed to a bug - it was there, we really should not remove it and there are reasons you may want this.

the command-line module_admin can do this (as well as a couple other things that were removed from the GUI to simplify the interface).

eg: /var/lib/asterisk/bin/module_admin download ringgroups

If you'd still like this to be in the interface, then re-open this bug.. however, module_admin was created as a more powerful (and scriptable) alternative which is why the interface was streamlined.

I think it should be added back in, but I'll move it to a 2.3 feature request. The real point is that the functionality was there and probably shouldn't be take away.

module_admin may be able to do this, but I wouldn't have known it w/out reading this ticket, nor would anyone else as it's not in the Wiki either. Because I believe this is a request others probably have, I'd again push for it and '2x' philippe's reopening.

However, I'd personally rather not see it pushed back till 2.3 at the earliest, but rather for 2.2 if it's (I assume) a rather easy/trivial thing. If this is to remain for 2.3+, can you put some info on it up in the wiki? Will look at it when I get to work tommorrow... thanx.
