Description

I just fresh-installed Trixbox 2.0b2 with Freepbx 2.2rc1 in my vmware server. I tried to schedule Backup & Restore, and it didn't do anything (created no folder or backup file). Then I found out that there is no ampbackup.pl in my /var/lib/asterisk/bin folder. I saw there was another ticket submitted but was closed because no body else is having the same issue.

I probably should have replied to the ticket #1422. I never have submitted a ticket before so didn't know what the best way was to reopen the ticket.

I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Backup & Restore module, but it didn't create ampbackup.pl.

this seems to be fine. You need to hit the red bar at least once after loading the backup/restore module. It gets automatically linked based on your amportal.conf settings from the backup modules directory. So if you are still having problems, check your permissions to make sure asterisk can link to /var/lib/asterisk/bin and otherwise check the freepbx logs for errors as to the link failing.

Download freepbx-2.2.0rc1.tar.gz and extract the file. The "bin" folder within the amp_conf folder does not include ampbackup.pl. I don't know how Backup&Restore can work without the file. If I copy the file from freepbx-2.1.3 to /var/lib/asterisk/bin, Backup&Restore works without any problem!

I can't say that it is or is not broken on your system cause you aren't listening. retrieve_conf links the file. If you just load freepbx and then check, it won't be there until the first time you execute something that does the link. Before you reopen the bug, PLEASE update to the latest backup, and then actually try to do do a backup "NOW" (since nothing here tells me you have tried). That will get it to link. And make sure that the permissions are set properly (which should be the case if you just did an install_amp.

If the backup 'now' fails then please check the freepbx log files and include any appropriate info when you reopen the bug.

This appears to be a Trixbox issue. I reported a bug there.

I also have freshly installed Trixbox 2.0b2 with Freepbx 2.2rc1 and I did a restore from the backup I had made in freepbx-2.1.3 successfully but backup did not work for scheduled or "now". I further upgraded to freepbx 2.2.0rc3 and it still didn't work. I then uninstalled, removed backup directory and installed the latest version of backup backup2.1 and tried running a backup. The backups directory was created but no backup file created. I checked the log in /var/log/asterisk and the freepbx logs that I had there said nothing about any kind of failure.

I followed the thread above "The "bin" folder within the amp_conf folder did not include ampbackup.pl" and I copied the file from freepbx-2.1.3 to /var/lib/asterisk/bin, Backup works without any problem.

I am not sure if this is a bug or I am doing something wrong but now that I have a backup I will upgrade to Trixbox 2.0 from beta and will try it with this version.

if your backup module is not working, you can check to see if the folder /var/www/html/admin/modules/backup/bin exists, if it does not, and instead you see /var/www/html/admin/modules/backup/var then you need to cp the contents of /var/www/html/admin/modules/backup/var/lib/asterisk/bin to /var/www/html/admin/modules/backup/bin, then chown it to asterisk:asterisk and chmod 777, the next red bar reload should symlink it

this has worked for a few people so far, and probably is a bug with where the module files are created, not sure trix or freepbx

I'm closing. Please reopen if it's a problem but first try the latest released version of 2.2 and the latest B&R mod.

I'm still experiencing this same issue:

Fresh install of TB 1.2.3 (no modules updated/installed), downloaded freePBX 2.2.1 w/modules, ./install_amp, downloaded all module updates, enabled modules, then clicked the red bar (for the first time). Attempt to run a "now" backup and it does nothing. Performed naftali's suggested fix above and a "now" backup works fine, but scheduled backups do not run.

there is not suppose to be one there, it get's linked by retrieve_conf so if it is not there check your freepbx logs for other errors.

not invalid, look at my post earlier in this thread. It is in the wrong dir so it does not get symlinked. This is happening to too many people (#1757 and others) we have to figure out why.

can you elaborate. I just pulled and examined the 'with modules' tarball and it appears to have the backup module with appropriate directores under it. Don't know if this is a trixbox issue (in which case they need to get their act together) or ???

let me know cause form what I can see it looks fine.

I am having the same exact problem with a FRESH install of Trixbox 2.2.4. After the install, I update both trixbox and do a yum update. Then install my modules all at once. When I try to schedule a backup, nothing happens.

A workaround is to: cp /var/www/html/admin/modules/backup/bin/ampbackup.pl /var/lib/asterisk/bin chown asterisk:asterisk /var/lib/asterisk/bin/ampbackup.pl chmod 777 /var/lib/asterisk/bin/ampbackup.pl

But this seems to be a chronic problem that should be solved.

it is solved when FreePBX is installed correctly and the initial redbar 'reload' is done. The file gets linked.
