Description

When I RE-Record a custom system recording and name it the same, it overwrites the actual sound file correct, but puts 2 of the sound recording names in the right side bar list

  • confirmation changed from Unreviewed to Confirmed.

  • milestone changed from 2.5 to 3.0.

I'll move this to a feature request, which is to make it easier to re-record (edit) as system recording. Right now it allows you to have multiple system recordings with the same name - whether they are the same recording or not. (One of those grey areas between a bug and a feature request...)

re-reading this, it I apparently mis-understood this issue, you are referring to a case where both are identical. Sorry.

actually, I know what my concern was here.

Scenario: You may have a recording with a display name of 'hours' but the sound file happens to be 'my_business_hours' and then you go to create a new recording and happen to call it 'hours' again. That will not overwrite the old recording, however with this request, it would replace the old entry that was named 'hours' (using 'my_business_hours') with the new recording you just recorded, name 'hours'

So the question, is there any concern with that? Do we want to have that effect. You don't lose the old recording, but you update the existing displayname which will effect all modules using that displayname. (Of course, if you happen to have the displayname duplicated (with different sound files), then which one do you update, all of them? - or do we not allow duplicate display names?)
