Description

Since 2.6 we have not been able to create extensions without populated secrets.

Some FXS gateways (Cisco in particular) want the call sent unauthenticated. Power users who understand the implication of setting up a peer in this fashion should still be able to overide this layer of protection.

Perhaps a reminder to populate the permit/deny fields so the peer can only be used by the correct host (this is best practice anyway).

The extensions provides a warning with blank secrets, it does not enforce it? I would seem to be that is is reasonable to force the user to check "OK" acknowledging they want to proceed.

Other than maybe an update to the warning suggesting if they "really want to do this" that they should consider using permit/deny, am I missing something in assuming that this ticket really falls under the category of "worksforme" ???

Hmmm, I did test this, you get a warning, if you click OK the secret is blank and you can Apply changes. I am reluctant to add the warning for permit/deny as it would break all languages.

So, my vote is to close this as "worksfrome"

we probably need clarification from SkykingOH then if there is an issue that the warning is produced or if it is just annoying.

The warning is fine. It appears to be an interaction with weak secrets module.

I simply remove weak secrets on systems that need to use blank secrets.

My apologies for not posting this several months ago.
