netstats breaks after php update

Description

I lose my netstats on the dashboard after a yum php update. Network status just stay at 0kb/s rx and tx. Hopefully it's an easy fix. I'm trying to do my part tracking it down further but I'm still not very good with php.

This is a bug. Yum updates should not break freepbx.

The solution is 

chown -R asterisk /var/lib/php/session

That is because you also must of updated php when you upgrade FreePBX. Closing as it is not a FreePBX issue but a php setting issue.

It is true that technically this is not a bug in the FreePBX system itself. However, that is assuming that your statement that "YUM updates should not break FreePBX" is indeed an assurance that the FreePBX project actually makes. Of course we don't want yum updates to break it (and they usually don't), but unless the FreePBX project has explicitly stated that FreePBX is written & designed with the feature/requirement that it is always compatible with yum updates (which I think is somewhat impossible to ensure), then I really don't think we can call this a bug.

Still it is a royal pain in the back side. Maybe you can chime in to our recent thread on the issue here & suggest how we can permanently resolve this one via its source (the PHP RPMs being released through the CentOS repo). yum updates are always dangerous and that is why we put out upgrade scripts for the FreePBX Distro to make sure things like this are addressed in the upgrade scripts. As far as other distos we can not control their yum packages or how they handle upgrades. The issue just comes down to ownership of files and php is owned by root not the apache user.
