Tested using End Point Manager 2.10.3.7 with FreePBX Distro 2.10 and Aastra 6731i phones
Use Case: there is a different person now using a given extension
- Change the extension display name in FreePBX
Applications > Extensions
click on the extension on the right-hand side
Display Name: (change this to the new name)
Submit
Apply Config
Now the phone's .cfg needs to be updated.
This seemed to be the procedure that would work:
Connectivity > End Point Device List
locate and select the desired phone(s) under the “Current Managed Extensions” section
enable the “Reboot Phones” options below the “Rebuild Configs for Selected Phones” button
click the “Rebuild Configs for Selected Phones” button
However, this does not work -- the old display name is left in place in the generated .cfg file.
Removing the phone entirely and re-registering it does work, but it also resets unrelated items like the phone's template assignment.
Connectivity > End Point Device List
“Current Managed Extensions” section > click “Expand All Line Info”
locate the phone with the incorrect display name, click the red ”-” “Delete Device” button to delete the handset association to this extension
Are you sure you want to delete this device?
OK
Re-register the phone using the updated extension name
