Description

I use the DISA feature to call into my FreePBX System from the outside world. I'm finding that, frequently, after dialing a number and before the system processes my call, the system is sending a spurious Caller ID burst.

For example, if I call into my DISA and dial *9840 (40 is my extension #), I will hear a Caller ID burst and then be put through to my voicemail.

This is not the only feature code that is generating a Caller ID burst, but it is the only one that I can recall at this time.

What do you mean Caller ID burst????

I mean an audible sound, similar to a burst of modem data, that sounds exactly like the sound that you might hear when a telco sends a Caller ID signal over an analog line.

So, for example, if you receive a phone call on an AT&T POTS line, and you pick up the phone right after the first ring, but before the second ring, you might hear a short data burst as the switch is attempting to send the Caller ID to your telephones. Also, it is similar to the sound you might hear if you receive a call-waiting and you have the Call-Waiting Caller ID service.
