FreePBX and Schmooze are pleased to announce the addition of a new key member to the FreePBX family. After watching the community over the past several years grow, it became apparent that this Community needs a full time Community Manager. We started an extensive search for the perfect candidate after acquiring the FreePBX website and trademark in February and are excited to announce the search is over! Without further ado, please help welcome Derek Peloquin!
Derek joins Schmooze with nearly 8 years of experience with the Asterisk Project and Community. In his previous role as Senior Technical Trainer at Digium Inc, Derek provided Instructor Led Training and seminars as well as developing classroom curriculum, certification exams and online training videos. Four years prior to this, Derek also provided Asterisk support, consulting and custom configuration. In his new Community Manager role Derek will be committed to engaging with FreePBX users online and at various events to advance and grow the community. This will include acting as moderator and providing support in our forums and IRC. Another significant aspect of this role will be to function as liaison to FreePBX developers, providing triage and acting as Bug Marshall. In this function Derek will be able to better assist developers in resolving reported issues.
Derek will also be managing and coordinating training at Schmooze/FreePBX. In this capacity he will work to provide online content to users such as videos and documentation. He will also be busy strengthening and growing the Open Telephony Training Seminars (OTTS) Instructor Led Training offerings. This will include developing new courses and coordinating more training events annually and at more locations worldwide! Derek hopes to take advantage of these events to further engage the community.
