We’re pleased to share that new features have been added to the Sangoma Desktop Client. These updates aim to improve the user experience and make the soft client more secure, efficient and user-friendly.
Multi-Factor Authentication Support
Starting from version 4.0.6, the Sangoma Desktop Client (SDC) now supports Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). The latest features introduced in SDC, combined with the recent price reduction of the MFA module to $0, reflect Sangoma’s unwavering commitment to enhancing security for FreePBX and PBXact partners, customers, and end users. Once a user logs in with their username and password, the SDC app will, if MFA is enabled on their account, prompt them to enter a One-Time Password (OTP) to complete the authentication process.
The Desktop Client supports all MFA methods currently available in the PBX MFA module, including:
- OTP via Email
- OTP via an Authenticator App
- Authenticate via Call (to an extension on your FreePBX system!)
You can administer MFA from the FreePBX GUI, under the PBX MFA module:
This added layer of security helps ensure safer access to the client.
Please refer to our documentation wiki for the complete MFA Configuration guide.
When a MFA enabled user attempts to log in to the Sangoma Desktop Client app with a valid username and password, they will be presented with the MFA options previously configured by their PBX system administrator. If the Type of MFA is set to All, the user can select their preferred authentication method—OTP via Email, Phone Call, or an Authenticator App—and receive the OTP accordingly.
One-Click Access to Sangoma Desktop Client from the User Control Panel
A new feature has been introduced to the User Control Panel, enabling users to launch the Sangoma Desktop Client instantly with just one click using a convenient sidebar widget. This feature eliminates the need to manually input the host URL, username, or password, simplifying the login process. It streamlines access to the desktop client, making it faster and more convenient than ever.
