Official FreePBX® 2.2.2 Upgrade Instructions

We have heard that some recent upgrade attempts to FreePBX® 2.2.2 on other distributions have resulted in broken systems. We have no control of the mechanism and packages that are produced by other projects and thus we can not confirm nor recommend using any of these upgrade procedures.
The official upgrade procedure currently supported by the FreePBX® project is to download the tarball from our mirror (or sourceforge) and then run the install_amp program to update your system. Subsequent module updates can be obtained through the normal online Module Admin process. This is the only process tested and verified by the project. Following is an example of doing a supported update (you must be logged in as root to perform the update):
cd /usr/src/
wget http://mirror.freepbx.org/freepbx-2.2.2.tar.gz
tar -zxvf freepbx-2.2.2.tar.gz
cd freepbx-2.2.2
./install_amp

We strive to be extremely responsive to any issues that are encountered when this process is used. For those of you who have ecncountered this issue, we hope that this procedure will result in rectifying your problems. In the future we recommend updating from an official FreePBX source.
-philippe (on behalf of the FreePBX® team)
